Indian Travellers to UAE Can Now Use UPI All Thanks To PhonePay

Hey there, fellow Indian travellers heading to the UAE! Guess what? Making payments just got a whole lot easier and more convenient for us, all thanks to a fantastic collaboration between NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL) and NeoPay. PhonePe users can now make UPI payments at Mashreq’s NEOPAY terminals.

Ritesh Pai, the CEO of International Payments at PhonePe, remarked, “Through this partnership, customers can now easily conduct transactions using UPI, a familiar payment method. By facilitating digital payments, PhonePe demonstrates its dedication to convenience while adapting to the changing requirements of modern travellers.”

How does the UPI in UAE will work?

Now, instead of dealing with the hassle of currency exchange or lugging around loads of cash, users can simply use our PhonePe app directly at NeoPay terminals across the UAE. PhonePe stated that transactions will be enabled through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), with the account being debited in Indian rupees while displaying the currency exchange rate.

The process is elegantly simple: users need only to scan the QR code at Mashreq’s NEOPAY terminals, enter the desired amount, and voila! The payment is swiftly completed in a matter of seconds, eliminating the complexities associated with traditional payment methods. Moreover, users will benefit from transparent pricing, with payments debited in Indian rupees and a clear understanding of the exchange rate applied for the transaction.

Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) with UAE mobile numbers stand to benefit immensely from this service. By downloading the PhonePe app and linking their existing NRE and NRO accounts, NRIs can avail themselves of this streamlined payment solution, facilitating seamless transactions while abroad.

Enhancing Convenience for Travelers

The widespread availability of NEOPAY terminals across various retail stores, dining outlets, and tourist destinations throughout the UAE further amplifies the convenience factor for travelers. Whether exploring bustling souks or indulging in culinary delights, PhonePe users can now navigate their transactions seamlessly, enhancing their overall travel experience.

In simple terms, PhonePe’s entry into the UAE market is a big step forward for digital payments. It shows how technology can help people from India who live all over the world. By making it easier to pay in different countries, PhonePe is making sure everyone can be part of the digital payment world. With PhonePe leading the way, it looks like cross-border payments are going to be even better in the future.
