ZeroPe by Ashneer Grover: Ashneer Grover, co-founder of BharatPe, has come up with another innovative entrepreneurial solution. In a country where healthcare expenses often spell financial disaster for many, armed with the vision of making healthcare financing accessible to all, Ashneer introduces ZeroPe, a fintech startup specialising in instant medical loans.
ZeroPe isn’t just about numbers and transactions; it’s about lending a hand to those in need, ensuring that no one has to choose between health and financial stability.
What is ZeroPe?
ZeroPe, in partnership with Delhi-based Non-Banking Finance Company (NBFC) Mukut Finvest, is poised to offer instant pre-approved medical loans of up to ₹5 lakh. These loans will cover a range of medical expenses, providing peace of mind to individuals and families facing health crises. ZeroPe’s services are available exclusively at partnered hospitals and medical centers, ensuring seamless access to healthcare financing.
Through its user-friendly interface, customers can easily monitor upcoming EMIs and payments, taking control of their financial journey. To obtain a medical loan, customers simply need to complete the KYC process, providing basic details such as their phone number, Aadhaar card number, and PAN. Once the KYC process is complete, customers can choose the healthcare facility where ZeroPe’s loan services are applicable. From there, they can enter the loan amount and plan EMIs according to their convenience.
ZeroPe then approves the loan amount, ensuring a seamless and hassle-free experience. What’s more, borrowers have the flexibility to repay the loan early without incurring additional charges, providing further peace of mind.
Ashneer Grover’s ventures before ZeroPe
Before launching ZeroPe, Ashneer Grover embarked on several entrepreneurial ventures, each with its own set of triumphs and trials. In 2015, he co-founded Grofers, a venture that brought the convenience of online grocery delivery to Indian households. It quickly became a household name, boasting over 35 million app downloads and a presence in 27 cities.
However, Grover’s journey took a detour with BharatPe, a fintech startup founded in 2018 along with Shashvat Nakrani and Bhavik Koladiya, aimed at empowering small businesses with digital payment solutions. In January 2022, BharatPe’s board initiated an audit by PwC to investigate allegations of misconduct against him. Following this, He resigned as Managing Director in February 2022.
Despite the controversies, Grover didn’t stop being an entrepreneur. He launched Third Unicorn, a new company, in 2023. Third Unicorn, kicked off with its first product, CrickPe. Launched in March 2023, CrickPe is a fantasy sports app where users can play cricket-based games and win cash prizes. Third Unicorn scored funding, including a $3.5 million seed round, to get CrickPe up and running. As of March 2023, Third Unicorn aimed to make CrickPe profitable by the end of the IPL season that year. And now he has launched ZeroPe. It is safe to say that Ashneer is an entrepreneur through and through.
